Mr. Lewis has been in private practice since October, 2003. Prior to joining JDW, he was a principal in a general practice law firm in the Indianapolis area. In that setting, he was exposed to a broad array of clients and legal issues in a variety of fields. He has experience with estate planning and probate administration, family law including divorce, child custody and support, and determination of paternity, contract preparation, review, and litigation, business planning, collections, real estate, and general litigation. Prior to working in that firm, he was an associate in a boutique firm specializing in civil litigation.
Since joining J.D. Walls & Associates, P.C., Mr. Lewis has
also focused his practice on estate planning, including the preparation of wills, trusts, and supporting documents, probate administration, and other areas of the law that can be affected in and by the planning process, such as business ownership and succession, guardianships, and real estate. Mr. Lewis also shares his knowledge in the area by presenting to groups on various topics including “Legal issues for Older Relatives” and “Estate Planning, Wills, and Trusts.”
Mr. Lewis graduated with honors from the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis in 2003. Mr. Lewis served as a member of the Dean’s Tutorial Society in law school, working as a tutor in the legal writing program. He also received the Francis J. Feeney Tax Award.
While in law school, he worked as a clerk for the Honorable Jerry M. Barr in Hamilton County. As a clerk, he gained a unique and valuable insight into the practice of law, and learned first hand about the inner workings of the court system.
